Hopeful Connections
Hope Point’s full mission is: Converging the community with the Hope of Christ
We will nurture a culture and mindset centered on the Kingdom of God. By being and making disciples we prioritize having a relationship with Jesus and being present in our community as a missional movement. Therefore, striving to be a point of intersection for God’s Kingdom and the community we commit to:
Creating
Opportunities to experience the Gospel of Jesus and Moments for reconciliation
Caring
For each other and our neighbors and Loving our community
Cultivating
Authentic relationships and Growth and development in Christ
Communicating
Biblical grace and truth and God’s catalytic redemption
What does all of this mean and how does it affect us as a church?
It is all about making connections of hope with others. Our purpose in this community is to offer Hope and provide the opportunity for people to experience the Gospel. This goes beyond just our worship service, but it is in our actions, words, and the willingness to be present in the community. Committing to hopeful connections is being intentional in how you interact with others. Imagine, if you are holding Jesus’ hand and as you connect with others you take hold of their hand. Now they, through you, have a connection or are able to experience the Hope of Jesus. As a church we must prioritize creating those safe moments that people can experience that same hope.
While this seems extremely simplified it creates immeasurably more impact than what we give it credit for. Change doesn’t happen with a mighty force it begins with a loving connection or a willingness to be present in the neighborhood. The ultimate example of this connection is,
“And the Word became flesh and made his home among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness. And we have seen his glory, the glory of the Father’s one and only Son.” John 1:14
Jesus reconnected us to the Father. Every moment he lived was a Kingdom event, which is an opportunity to experience what life with God really means. Our Hopeful connections should be Kingdom events in which we hold the hands of our neighbors in South Tacoma and allow them to experience life with God. Creating, Caring, Cultivating, and Communicating are not just some fun alliterations that look cute on our website but they are our strategic action for establishing the needed Hopeful connections to ignite the Kingdom reality in Tacoma and the world. I think this is why I have appreciated and valued the imagery of Hope Point. Ships along the ocean look to those points or lighthouses to guide into the Harbor to find safety and care. We, as Hope Point, especially now, more than ever, have an exciting task before us and we cannot draw back. The community needs us and even more, they need the Hopeful connection to Jesus.
